finally people are seeing what i'm saying (see 3.14.04 post)...
"Mark Morris was identified from the start as a choreographer with an unusual sensitivity to and interest in music. He is the rare dance artist who insists on his scores being played live. But somewhere along the way, the music took a stranglehold on many of his dances." - Jennifer Dunning

after seeing black grace a second time, i am still convinced that neil is brilliant, but i'm not as convinced that he is a nice man--a little too slick for me.

whooh. Black Grace's performance last night was amazing. The work had humor and strength and purpose and more power. I can't even really begin to describe it. No words could capture the energy. Neil Ieremia, besides being a very cute man who says cheers, is brilliant. Maybe that's what happens when you make dance with very little reference to what is supposed to be hip. This is a group not to be missed.

have you ever seen so much dance, you thought your brain would explode?
well basically, that's where i'm at, but i still need to see more.
i am tired of seeing stuff that basically consists of a bunch of people running into eachother, wearing hip non costume costumes, accompanied by esoteric statements and noises that we now are forced to accept as music.
there isn't that much of that here at the pillow, thank god.
but someone did make dinner on stage. mmmkay.
